Yellowstone Strengths Academy
YSA offers specialized instruction designed by a Gallup-Certified Strengths Coach and professionals from the community. This concentrated curriculum is coupled with strategies, motivational techniques, mentorships and practical experience to help student workers gain stronger insights into their natural talents while sharpening their communication, interpersonal and professional skills.
To reach one’s potential, you must first learn personal strengths and talents. The Clifton Strengths Finder assessment helps students identify their natural talents & offers guidance to direct those talents in their academic, personal & career areas.
Career Exploration & SMART Goals.., Resume Writing, Interview Tips
Having a strong understanding of the areas you are naturally talented in (strengths), and how those talents synergistically work to support various occupations, is very important when determining the best career options and academic areas of study for students. This course is designed to help students explore how their personal interests and strengths intersect with career options as well as academic areas of study that support those fields. By identifying their personal interests and strengths, exploring career options and setting SMART goals, students will feel confident to go after and make their career aspirations a reality.
Confidence and preparedness are key elements for any interview. After identifying their strengths and learning key interviewing skills, students will participate in mock interviews to put those skills into practice. They will then receive feedback from their mock interviews to help them learn and gain confidence in their interview skills going forward.
Find & Land Your Ideal Job
Finding and landing the ideal job can be daunting sometimes. In this course students will learn powerful job search essentials, how to write a resume and cover letter, and receive professional interview prep. They will leave this course feeling confident to tackle the job market, knowing they are prepared and ahead of the game.
Career Workplace Expectations
It is important to know and understand core workplace expectations because they are often the guiding principles that companies value most. In this course, students will learn how to determine and follow workplace expectations to set themselves up for success.
Quality customer service is essential. In this course, students will learn the best practices in customer service. Students will receive tools to assess and improve their customer service skills, develop a strong understanding of the importance of customer service, as well as learning and understanding team dynamics and quality control.
Becoming financially literate is a lifelong process that begins with something as simple as putting a few pennies in a piggy bank and evolves to more advanced subjects such as budgeting and risk. In this course students will gain knowledge and skills to make effective and informed money management decisions in life and work.
Happy Hacks to Technology
While technology allows us to accomplish many things, it can also be a distraction. This course is designed to help students identify how technology is affecting them and how they can set healthy boundaries for their technology use in order to improve focus, strengthen personal connections and enhance productivity.
On the Job Communication
Good on the job communication is vital in any workplace because it allows people to be more productive, maintain positive working relationships and keeps employees engaged. In this course, students will learn the importance of communicating while at work as well as tips and strategies to help them communicate effectively right away in any workplace.
Career Expo Day
Career Expo Day is designed to let students explore the various career options they have been researching and are interested in. Students will be given the opportunity to talk with local businesses and ask questions as they prepare to take the next step in their career journey.
Tech Learning Labs
Technology is an essential part of all jobs and companies today. Being able to effectively use and adapt to new technology is key in today’s workplace. In this course, students will learn and practice the basics of using Microsoft Office, appropriate email protocol, project and task management, as well as having the opportunity to complete the “Universal Class Topics” class, free of charge, through the library’s website.
